Who we are
Musette Bike is run by Algarve Cycling Hub, Lda, Largo do Poço 2A, 8600-102 Luz (Almádena), Lagos, Portugal. Algarve Cycling Hub, Lda is the controller for your personal data. Contact: hello@musette.bike, +351 917 019 200.
Bike rentals and tours
When you book online or in our shop, we collect your name, email, phone number and country, and the dates, bikes, sizes and extras you choose. When you collect the bikes, you sign the rental agreement. We use this information to prepare your bikes or tour, to contact you about your booking and to invoice you. Online bookings run on our booking system bike.rent. Online payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see your card number. If you charge a rental to your room at a partner hotel, we share the rental details with that hotel for billing. Legal basis: the contract, GDPR art. 6(1)(b), and our legal duties for accounting and tax, art. 6(1)(c).
Shop and workshop
When you buy something or have your bike repaired, we keep the invoice details the law requires, such as your name and your tax number if you give one. Legal basis: our legal duties, art. 6(1)(c).
Messages
When you write to us through the contact form, by email or on WhatsApp, we use your name, contact details and message to answer you. Legal basis: steps before a contract, art. 6(1)(b), or our legitimate interest in answering you, art. 6(1)(f).
Where your booking came from
You may reach our website from a search engine, an ad, a social media post, a newsletter or another website. If you then book online, our website passes the general source of your visit to the booking system, which stores it with your booking. Examples are "google/organic", "google/cpc" or "instagram/social", plus the campaign name where there is one. This tells us which of our marketing works. We use no cookies for this, store nothing on your device and share nothing with advertising platforms. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in measuring our marketing, art. 6(1)(f).
Cookies, website statistics and advertising
This website runs on Wix. Cookies the site needs to work, such as the one that remembers your cookie choice, are always on. Only if you agree in the cookie banner do we use:
-
Google Analytics, to count visits and see how the site and the online booking are used;
-
Google Ads, to measure which of our ads lead to bookings;
-
the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API (Facebook and Instagram), to measure our ads and to show our ads to people who have visited our website. When you fill in a form on this website, the Meta Pixel also sends Meta a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address and phone number. Meta uses it to match the visit to a Meta account ("advanced matching"). We receive no information about your Meta account.
If you have agreed to advertising cookies and you book after clicking one of our ads, we tell Google or Meta that the click led to a booking, and its amount. For this we send the ad's click identifier, the booking reference and the amount, nothing else about you.
Legal basis: your consent, art. 6(1)(a). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
Who sees your data
Our staff and guides; the partner hotel, if you charge a rental to your room; our accountant; and the services that run our website, bookings and office: Wix.com Ltd (website), bike.rent (online bookings), Stripe (payments), ZoneSoft (shop till), Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany (our own server, where we keep a copy of bookings for our reports), Odoo S.A., Belgium (our customer and accounting system), Google (email and, with your consent, Google Analytics and Google Ads) and Meta (WhatsApp if you write to us there and, with your consent, the Meta Pixel). We do not sell your data.
Where it goes
Some of these services are based outside the EU or use companies outside the EU. Where data leaves the EU, it goes either to countries the EU recognises as offering adequate protection, or to the United States, where it is protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by the EU standard contractual clauses. For the Meta Pixel, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd are joint controllers for collecting the data and sending it to Meta. The essence of that arrangement is at facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum. What Meta does with the data afterwards is explained at facebook.com/privacy/policy.
How long we keep it
Invoices and accounting records: ten years, as Portuguese law requires. Other booking details, including where the booking came from: two years after your rental or tour. Messages that don't lead to a booking: two years.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, to take it with you (portability), and to withdraw your consent at any time. Write to hello@musette.bike. You can also complain to the Portuguese supervisory authority, CNPD, at cnpd.pt.
